I've had my Passat for about four years now and it's been a really solid family car, plenty of space and comfortable for long drives, but recently the DSG transmission has started behaving strangely and it's got me worried. When I'm driving in stop-start traffic, the gear changes feel really jerky and hesitant, almost like it's not sure which gear it wants to be in, and sometimes I get a bit of a clunk when it shifts from first to second. I've read online that these transmissions need regular servicing and that the mechatronics unit can sometimes develop issues, but I'm hoping it's just that the fluid needs changing rather than something more serious. The thing is, I don't want to take it to a general garage that doesn't have experience with DSG boxes, because I've heard horror stories about people ending up with bigger problems after someone who didn't know what they were doing tried to service them. I'm in Abu Dhabi and I've been looking for trusted Volkswagen service in Abu Dhabi from a workshop that actually knows these transmissions and can properly diagnose whether it's a fluid issue, a software problem, or something mechanical. Has anyone else experienced DSG issues on their Passat or similar VW and managed to get it sorted? I'd really appreciate some advice before I start spending money on diagnostics.
