Not just cosmetic: when people in Nicosia see a plastic surgeon for medical reasons (15 อ่าน)

Many people assume plastic surgeons only do cosmetic work, but a big part of the specialty is reconstructive and medical. I think it is worth knowing, because a lot of people put off seeing someone about these things.
Some examples of what falls under reconstructive surgery:
Skin lesions and skin cancer:
moles or marks that change in size, shape or colour should be checked by a doctor promptly. Treatment can include removal of skin tumours, and for some skin cancers a technique called MOHS surgery.
Scars and cuts: old or poorly healed scars, and deep skin cuts, can often be improved. Burns and chronic wounds: wounds that are slow to heal usually need specialist care.

A few practical tips if you need to see someone:

Photograph the area now, so you can show how it has changed over time.

Write down how long you have noticed it and whether it has changed.

Do not wait if something is growing, bleeding or not healing.

If you are looking for a Plastic surgeon Nicosia residents can book without travelling far, Dr Ioannis Georgiou is one option. He is a board certified plastic surgeon who has worked in Cyprus since 2009 and practises in Nicosia and Limassol, and his clinic's website has dedicated pages for these reconstructive conditions as well as cosmetic procedures.
