Commercial Kitchens Run on Power: Electrical Mistakes We See in Restaurants (6 อ่าน)

24 ต.ค. 2569 00:42

We're commercial electricians, and restaurants and commercial kitchens are some of the most demanding electrical environments we work in — refrigeration, cooking equipment, heat, water and long operating hours all in one space. Since this board is full of people who know kitchen equipment, here are the electrical problems we get called about most:

Circuits that were never planned for the load — a kitchen adds equipment over the years, one piece at a time, until breakers start tripping in the middle of service

Refrigeration on shared or weak circuits — a fridge or freezer that loses power overnight can mean a full stock loss; critical refrigeration deserves dedicated circuits and protection

Water and electricity in the same space — proper protection (ground-fault/RCD devices) in wet areas is a safety basic that older kitchens often miss

Lighting done as an afterthought — kitchen staff need bright, even work lighting, and the dining side needs something completely different; one plan rarely serves both

No maintenance until something fails — panels and connections in hot, greasy environments age faster; a periodic inspection is cheap insurance

We're Carolina Commercial Electric (https://carolinacommercialelectric.com) — we do commercial installations, design-build, maintenance and repairs across North and South Carolina, and kitchen and restaurant work is a regular part of it.

Kitchen owners and equipment folks — what electrical problem causes you the most downtime?
