Smart Howrah taxi transfer tips (9 อ่าน)

30 มี.ค. 2569 13:44

I still have nightmares about the first time I tried to navigate the sea of people outside the platform at Howrah with two massive suitcases and a dead phone battery. It was like a scene from an action movie, but with more dust and a dozen drivers all shouting different "special prices" at me at once. Trying to find a reliable way to get to the historic northern quarters was a complete disaster, and I ended up in a rickshaw that definitely was not designed for a guy my height. Since I am planning a return trip to explore the old colonial architecture, I am making sure thesonagachi station leg of my journey is actually comfortable this time. I have decided to book through GetTransfer instead of playing "fare roulette" at the station exit. Being able to choose a car with a solid AC system and seeing the drivers rating beforehand is such a massive stress-reliever, especially when you have been on a train for ten hours. It is also a huge plus that the price is locked in, so you do not have to argue about "luggage surcharges" or bridge tolls while you are stuck in the middle of the Hooghly River traffic.

Does anyone know if the construction work near the station entrance is still making it a nightmare to find your driver, or have they finally designated a better meeting point for private cars? Also, I have heard mixed things about the best time to cross the bridge in the afternoon, is it still a total standstill after 4 PM, or should I just give up and leave two hours early to be safe? I would love to hear from anyone who is braved that route recently!
