AC not cold anymore, is it worth fixing at a small shop? (7 อ่าน)

So my Infiniti QX60 is about five years old and the AC has been getting weaker for a few weeks. At first I thought it was just the summer heat but now even in the evening it takes forever to cool down. My wife keeps complaining and the kids in the back seat say it is hot so I cannot ignore it anymore. I called the dealer and they quoted me a number that honestly made me sit down. A friend at work said small workshops in Mussafah do the same job for much less and that many of them deal with Japanese cars every day. I have never used a non dealer workshop before so I am a bit nervous about it. I do not want someone to put cheap parts or mess up the system and then I pay twice. While searching on my phone I came across https://infinitiservicemussafah.ae and the page looked organized which made me feel a little better but I still want real opinions from people who actually tried a place like this. How long does an AC repair usually take? Is it a one day job or should I plan to leave the car? Also do they check for leaks first or just refill the gas and send you home? I heard some shops just top up the refrigerant and the problem comes back in two months. That is exactly what I want to avoid. If anyone has done this before, please tell me what to watch out for and roughly what it cost you. I am okay to pay a fair price, I just do not want to be overcharged or given a quick fix that does not last. Any honest advice would really help me decide this week because the heat is only getting worse.
